Storyline:
Karen Davis is an American Nurse moves to Tokyo and encounter a supernatural spirit who is vengeful and often possesses its victims. A series of horrifying and mysterious deaths start to occur, with the spirit passing its curse onto each victim. Karen must now find away to break this spell, before she becomes its next victim.

Wes Craven on Cursed

Director Wes Craven recently talked to Sci Fi Wire about three projects, including the troubled werewolf movie Cursed. Craven says that many of the film's scenes will have to be reshot, and possibly recast, when the film resumes production in November.

He added that makeup guru Rick Baker has retired, turning over responsibility for the film's werewolf makeup to KNB. "I haven't seen that hit the news yet, but he shut down his studio. All of the elements have been taken over by KNB for us."

Filming had commenced for 11 weeks before Dimension Films stopped production in June and ordered a script rewrite. "Quite an extraordinary amount of new material is going to be shot, and a lot of material is going to be thrown away."

Wes Craven was also working on bringing the video game American McGee's Alice and his own novel Fountain Society to the big screen for Dimension, but he now says those projects are pretty much dead.

"[We] never got a script that Dimension liked," he says about "Alice", a dark retelling of Alice in Wonderland. "So it's been pushed way back on the back burner."

Meanwhile, Fountain Society, his story about cloning in the future, also had script problems. The studio wasn't interested in the philosophical issues raised by a story about an old scientist's brain transplanted into his young clone's body. "A large part of it was about the continuing relationship with his wife, who remained old," he said. "It kind of turned us into a movie that was just basically a chase movie, and we were never really able to get to the point where we were all enthusiastic about it."

Fountain

NineMSN reports that a set and props for what would have been writer/director Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain are being auctioned off this week. Brad Pitt dropped out of the project last year to go film Troy instead. Here's a taste of the article...

A 10-storey-high Aztec temple built for Brad Pitt and Inca costumes that should have been worn by Cate Blanchett will be auctioned on the Gold Coast this week, ending any hope of resurrecting one of the biggest films ever planned for Australia.

Darren Aronofsky's $US100 million ($A153 million) science fiction adventure The Fountain had begun pre-production on the Gold Coast when Pitt suddenly withdrew from the project a year ago.

However, before The Fountain's collapse producers had spent an estimated $A18 million, some of it building elaborate sets and creating amazing costumes.

Any hope The Fountain could be revived at a later date will be dealt a final blow on Tuesday with the auction.

The centrepiece of the film - a high-rise Aztec temple - is included in 800 movie set lots that will go under the auctioneer's hammer.

Will Warner Bros. still make this project sometime down the road with Cate Blanchett and Ellen Burstyn, who were set to star? Only time will tell. Check out the source link above for the full article.

Tom Wilkinson in Search of A Good Woman

Oscar and Emmy-nominated actor Tom Wilkinson has joined Helen Hunt and Scarlett Johansson in the indie feature A Good Woman for director Michael Barker. Filming begins next month in Italy.

Written by Howard Himelstein, the story is inspired by the Oscar Wilde play "Lady Windermere's Fan" and sees Hunt play a seductress who steals the husband of a younger woman (Johansson).

Wilkinson plays Tuppy, a heavyset British socialite who falls for Hunt's character and provides comic relief in the film.

Jeff Daniels & Kip Pardue See Imaginary Heroes

Jeff Daniels and Kip Pardue have joined Sigourney Weaver and Emile Hirsch in the indie Imaginary Heroes for director Dan Harris. Production is scheduled to start August 14 in New Jersey.

The darkly comic drama revolves around the secrets and lies of American families. It tells the story of a four-member family and how they deal with the suicide of the eldest son, an accomplished swimmer idolized by the community and his parents as being the "perfect boy" (Pardue). Daniels will star as the father, with Weaver playing the mother and Hirsch the youngest son.

Harris is directing from his own original screenplay.
